Angels with a Message

December 11, 2010

“Then the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.’” Luke 2:10-11(NKJ) Anybody seen an angel today?  What did he say?  God chooses to make the announcement of His Son to shepards warming their tortillas, rise and beans on the fire.  Not only with the appearance of an angel, but an angel that speaks good tidings!! And tidings of great miraculous joy to all people. If anything is worth interrupting a hot fireroasted Jewish-Mexican meal is an angel showing up at dinner with an annoucement of great tidings.  Faster than a microwave the angel tells the shepards the Savior is born today.  I believe the shepards made their meal into burritos and headed to town to the manger.  OK, this is the New Mexican Translation.

The Christmas story that Jesus gives – “a great joy which will be to all people.” I believe the best way is to display our joy in all our interrupted circumstances, good and bad. We may not enjoy the situations we find ourselves in, but we can have joy. Our joy can issue forth from the fact that Jesus came to earth as an infant, ministered, died on the cross and resurrected from the grave. He did this as a gift for all of us.

“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:10-11, NKJ).

It’s a gift we should give year round to everyone in this stress-filled world, because, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8, NIV).

Dear Lord, thank You for the gift of joy this Christmas season. I’m reminded that this joy is Your Son, Jesus.  And I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, down in my heart.  And God, I put that joy in my heart to stay!!! Amen, PJR
